Goodbye

Today is the day I say goodbye. Today is the day I burry you.

There are memorials all around me. On my desk. On my shelf.

In my bible. On my heart.

Today is the day I say thank you. Today I know I will never forget you.

"God is love," are the words you spoke which captured my heart.

Nothing truly loved is ever wholly lost.

I`m so sorry I didn`t say goodbye. I didn`t want to believe it was the end.

Now I wish I had said so many things. These things that whirl within my mind.

There is a deep pain within me which tortures my heart, because I have to say goodbye.

But the pain is great in knowing I could never have asked you to stay.

Every moment, every word, every kiss, every touch. I will never forget.

The way you made me laugh. The way you challenged my thoughts.

"God doesn't give us the people you want, he gives us the people we need. To help us, to hurt us, to leave us, to love us, and to make us the person we were meant to be."

You were a part of his perfect plan, a plan I don`t understand at all.

But I know it is good.

I will continue to visit you at your grave and send prayers on your behalf.

I`ll remember you in my days and the small things which make me think of you.
